Tools for Cleaning a Porcelain Cooking Surface

Flat top stoves are much easier to keep clean than stoves with detachable metal burners and drip pans. There are some special tools to use when cleaning porcelain cooking surfaces, however. Some wrong ones will scratch and ruin the surface, while others won't properly clean at all. Using the proper tools will ensure your porcelain cooking surface a long life and keep it looking new(bosch dhi 635).

Scrubbers

Use a soft scrubber such as a Scotch-Brite pad. Do not use metal scrubbers or steel wool, as they will scratch the surface of your cooking area. Carefully use a specially purchased scraper or a razor blade in a holder to clean off stubborn stuck-on stains.

Cleaners

Use the proper cleaner. Some stove tops have specific cleaners that are available. These cleaners not only clean the surface, but they also protect it from future scratches and burns. Check the manufacturer's guidelines for exactly what type and brand of cleaner it suggests. Otherwise, use only mild dish washing liquid to keep porcelain surfaces clean. Do not use cleaners with bleach or ammonia.

Wipe off all of the cleaner. Thoroughly dry the surface with paper towels. Leftover cleaner residue will smell the next time you turn on the burner. If you are using a porcelain grill pan, the cleaner could contaminate your food.

For stubborn stains, apply the cleaner, spread it all over the cooking surface and allow it to sit for about 30 minutes. Come back and use a soft scrubber to work the stains loose. Wipe with a damp sponge to remove the cleaner and the stains. Repeat if necessary.

Make your own cleaning paste out of baking soda and water if you don't want to use commercial chemicals. Apply the paste to the cooking surface siemens ek 77554 . Allow it to sit for about 30 minutes, and scrub using a non-abrasive scrubber.

Tips Make sure the bottoms of your pots and pans are not warped before using them on a porcelain cooking surface. Also make sure they are completely clean and dry.

If spills do occur while cooking, clean them up immediately. This prevents the ingredients from burning and sticking, which requires much more work to remove.

Clean the surface right away after using it. Leaving spills to clean up later only makes the job harder. Clean the stove while it is still warm, and all you will need is dish soap and a soft sponge.
